Violence
Violence against women and girls is a human rights violation. It is a global issue – it occurs in every country and is caused and supported by patriarchy and gender inequality. Women experience different forms of violence throughout their lifetime – from domestic abuse to sexual assault, female genital mutilation, and child, early and forced marriage. Women have the right to live their lives free from violence. That’s why we’re working with other women’s rights organizations and movements to put an end to violence against women and girls.
Our programs are geared towards addressing violence against women through:
• Education and awareness creation: our campaigns are aimed at challenging negative social norms and gender stereotypes which allow violence to happen and supporting women to understand their rights.
• Advocacy: equipping women to claim their rights and working with government and like-minded organizations to promote gender equality and rights.
• Linkages to support; for survivors of gender based violence to access services like shelters, psychosocial support, economic empowerment, legal services and access to justice.
